Technical Product Manager/Owner - Data Systems



Job Description: 

The Technical Product Manager/Owner - Data Systems will lead development and management of Wireless Generation products that enable K-12 educational leaders to access and understand large amounts of students data in aggregate. In this role, the Product Manager will have responsibility for managing the lifecycle of the aggregate reporting platform and will provide leadership, developing the vision and setting the long-term direction of the reporting platform across the product portfolio. Product Manager will work across various departments at Wireless Generation to understand customer needs and inform the building and maintenance of an innovative reporting environment to help educators understand their assessment
data. 


Responsibilities of Technical Product Manager/Owner - Data Systems: 

  • Manages products from concept to retirement, including strategy, planning, product design, development, launch, marketing, production, enhancements, and retirement
  • Leading a team of software developers and architects, establishing development practices and standards Thought Leadership - Acts as a Wireless Generation subject matter expert in relevant product domains.
  • Strategy - Develops product or product line strategy based on a deep understanding of market and competitive landscape.
  • Planning - Maintain the product roadmap and priorities for future development based on market opportunities and customers needs, with an emphasis on creating sustainable competitive advantage.
  • Sales - Works with sales and marketing to develop appropriate sales positioning and approach; supports sales efforts on major accounts. 
  • Marketing - Work with marketing partners to develop product positioning and marketing plans. 
  • Product design and Development - Sets the vision for the product and supports a cross-functional product team to ensure high quality deliverables that achieve that vision. 
  • Product & Service Delivery - Supports training and information dissemination to service delivery. 
  • Commitment to Quality - Develops Wireless Generation position on factors critical to the successful adoption of reporting platform to ensure
    customer can access the data that enables high quality decision making.


Requirements of Technical Product Manager/Owner - Data Systems: 

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree at least 5-10 years of relevant experience, and a solid understanding of business intelligence and data analysis systems. 
  • Demonstrated success in a product development and/or product management role. 
  • Ability to communicate with a variety of constituencies, possess strong executive level communications, and the ability to speak in public and create and deliver presentations.
  • Proven experience leading in a matrix organization with the ability to develop strategic plans and provide supporting evidence for those plans.
  • Demonstrated interest in data analysis systems, product development, and education. 
  • Experience with data systems integration and experience with the management, implementation, or use of educational products - especially
    data systems used in public schools -- preferred. 
  • Willingness to travel 1 - 2 times per month.
  • Experience with sound vendor management practices preferred. 
  • Familiarity with the Pragmatic Marketing Framework preferred.
  • Familiarity with Agile SCRUM software development methodology preferred.
