System Engineer
Position Summary:

Responsible for overall evaluation, tactical and strategic planning, design, recommendation, testing, implementation, and capacity, performance and availability of the network architecture while adhering to company and overall strategic goals.

Principal Responsibilities:

- Maintaining the production LAN environment for the site in which the Engineer resides as well as for the rest of CUnet. Server installation and maintenance, LAN equipment installation and maintenance, LAN backup management and off-site tape rotation, Provide capacity planning and system availability information monthly, Resolving end-user issues, System administration for all servers and applicable equipment. - Provide scheduled 24 hour on-call support for all CUnet locations. - Provide documentation for: System support processes, new system implementations, End-User documentation, Project documentation. - Assist the Corporate Technology Network Team on any associated projects. - Align technology based solutions with new and existing business requirements. - Present issues, decision factors and recommendations to management. - Adhere to defined service levels. - Assist with technical reviews for new asset purchases. - Adhere to asset management policies and procedures. - Ability to proactively manage client expectations. - Provide proactive and professional communication to customers regarding the status of their requests, ensure tracking software is updated with current information on request status. - Ability to manage demanding workloads. - Provide leadership and assistance to other network technicians and customers. - Ability and willingness to work on-call responsibilities, including nights and weekends. - Ability and willingness to work outside of normal business hours to accomplish special implementations.



Requirements:

Education and Experience Requirements:

- 4 year degree in Information Sciences Engineering or related field or commensurate experience. - 3+ years experience with support and administration with Windows Server, Workstations, Windows 2000/XP, TCP/IP, IPX, SPX , routers, hubs, and switches.

Physical Requirements:

Travel required as needed, Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Requires mobility, dexterity for installations and moves.
