Description
The Principal Technical Architect (PTA) is responsible for the end-to-end architecture for new Advanced Mobility Solutions products supporting business customers. These products and services typically include mobile clients, server applications and cloud components. The PTA is responsible for the technical architecture, design and technical implementation of the product. They will work closely with the Product Realization Manager, and Product Marketing to analyze and translate business requirements into technical requirements and standards for performance, security and scalability into a detailed architecture plan. They participate or may lead vendor assessments, new product evaluation and technology and standards selections.
Skills
Experience in client and mobile applications, networking systems, and complex transaction systems
Developing visioning skills and ability to see the big picture via critical thinking
Experience in development, design, testing, and implementation
Experience in specifying and evaluating architecture requirements for mobile applications
Experience in architecting complex solutions across multiple technology disciplines from conceptual descriptions
Experience in architecting end-to-end solutions that include mobile applications (device and platform), operational support systems and network
Experience in implementing large scale, fault tolerant solutions (carrier grade)
Experience directing large, cross functional technical teams to a consensus solution
Experience in architectural principles and their implications to system design, security, system extensibility and interoperability, costs, and operational considerations
Excellent verbal and written communicator that actively promotes good working relationships with peers, vendors, and customers
Ability to write tutorials/documentation and give presentations
Subject matter expertise in three or more of the following:
Fault tolerant systems
Large scale platform design
Cloud infrastructure (OpenStack, AWS, VMware ESX, IBM Orchestration)
Large database design (Oracle, MS SQL, My SQL)
Mobile Application Development
Programming (HTML5, Java, C++, Ruby, Ajax, PERL)
Server Operating Systems (Linux, Windows Server, Unix, Solaris)
Mobile Operating Systems (iOS, Android, Windows, BlackBerry, WebOS)
Carrier Networking (mobility 4G/3G, IP Backbone, WiFi)
Qualifications
10+ years related technical experience
BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical field. (Masters Degree a plus)
