Network Engineer
Network Engineer needed for the operation of large Wide Area and Local Area IP Networks, which are being built on a Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS).
This position will be responsible for supporting the four very large IPv4 & IPv6 Networks based in the VZW defined Area (Midwest, Northeast, South, or West).
Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:
• Configure and support IP routers, Ethernet switches, MPLS switches, and some legacy ATM equipment which will need to be configured to meet customer, network capacity and project demands.
• Present design input, implement hardware, and provide extensive technical support and documentation for this LAN/WAN network.
• Provide 4th tier technical support to Data Operations on all networking issues.
Technical Skills:
• Accountable and able to construct carrier grade provider networks from scratch, including designing IP subnet assignments, VLANs, routing tables, providing Layer 2 and Layer 3 end-to-end connectivity, as well as load balancing traffic across redundant facilities.
• Minimum 7 years experience in data networking and telecommunications, including working knowledge of TCP/IP (IPv4). Exposure to IPv6 routing welcomed but not required.
• Minimum 5 years hands-on experience configuring routers, switches related network equipment. Preferably: MPLS- Nortel MSPP, and Cisco Carrier Routing Systems (CRS). Routers- Cisco 12K,10K,7500,7304,3845, 7200XVR; Juniper MX-480, MX-960.
Minimum 3+ years experience in IPV4 addressing and sub-netting, OSPF, BGP, Ethernet VLANs, MPLS, DS0 through OC-48 circuits, CSU/DSUs, standard telephony/ethernet cabling plants.
• Solid understanding of Networking specific technologies: IPV6, L2VPN, L3VPN, OSPFv3, MPBGP, QOS/Traffic Engineering, MPLS (LDP & TDP), and VRFs. Operating Systems: IOS, XR-IOS, XOS.
