Job Description: Cisco Systems, Inc Advanced Services is looking for a Network Consulting Engineer for Security.
Position requires BS in a technical field or equivalent experience and a minimum of nine (9) years experience in systems/network security administration.
Network Consulting Engineer will provide consulting services including Security Architecture Assessment (SAA), Security Design / Configuration Reviews, and Cisco security product implementations.
Individual will serve as a team member for extended engagements focused in the US East region (travel time 50%); will be responsible for finalization and delivery of reports for each consulting engagement; will prepare and deliver formal presentations for senior (C-level) executives; will develop and maintain software tools to enhance Cisco consulting services; and will contribute directly to Cisco's knowledge management initiatives by documenting and briefing other Cisco security consultants on lessons learned from engagements and by developing new methodologies for delivering services.
Skills Required:
Candidate must be a self-motivated individual that is dedicated to exceeding client expectations, be willing to contribute to team efforts, and possess strong interpersonal and presentation skills, in addition to possessing the following technical skills:
1) Experience designing, implementing and troubleshooting network security for enterprise customers (preferably within a datacenter environment) 2) Extensive experience in security configuration of network and security devices in a large enterprise environment (routers, switches, firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems) 3) Experience installing, configuring and troubleshooting one (2) or more of the following Cisco security technologies: Cisco Security Agent (CSA), NAC framework / appliance, IPS, ASA, CS Manager, MARS. 4) Detailed understanding of TCP/IP protocols 5) Detailed understanding of routing protocols (OSPF, RIP, EIGRP, BGP) and layer 2 protocols and technologies 6) Experience in project management, ability to clearly communicate security planning and technology issues verbally on both a formal and informal basis to all levels of client staff or for network security industry events/seminars, and posses experience in team leadership/mentoring.
Recommended Certifications and Educational Background:
1) CCNP, CCSP, CCIE desired but not required. One (1) or more of the following industry certifications: CISSP, SANS GIAC, NSA IAM
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Expert-level knowledge in network security design, architecture and implementation. System-administrator level knowledge of multiple UNIX variants.
In-depth knowledge of systems and network security.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
CCIE Typically requires BS, CS or equivalent plus 4-6 years related technical experience.
