The position functions as an internal consultant to the Professional Tennis organization to define their business needs, translate those needs to technical specifications, and then provide a solution typically by customizing available package software, coordinating custom development performed by external or internal resources, and/or (on an exception basis) developing departmental applications using rapid development tools such as Microsoft Access, and Sharepoint.
Duties include but not limited to:
Hands-on responsibilities in all phases of the application development lifecycle. During the Requirements Phase, will be responsible for translating business requirements into detailed programmer ready technical specifications that may be used to select and/or develop applications. During the Development Phase, will coordinate with the programming team to ensure requirements are being accurately addressed, and to track progress. During the Testing Phase, will directly develop and execute test plans, and assist internal clients in the acceptance testing of systems. During the Support Phase, will function as a trainer and system administrator as needed. This position will be heavily involved in the evaluation, selection and installation of new application software. Will work closely with the Director of IT, Professional Tennis on the execution of projects leading to the delivery of new IT applications and services to Professional Tennis. Activities will include: conducting on site staff training and support for all specialized software applications, coordinating with third party vendors to ensure support services and development projects conform to the internal clients' requirements. In support of the US Open, the incumbent will play a lead role in supporting assigned systems and operations. Handle all other technical and non-technical tasks as assigned leading to the support of the Professional Tennis organization.
Qualifications/other:
Bachelor's degree required preferably Computer Science. Three years of experience in Information Technology with an emphasis on developing programmer ready functional specifications. Expertise in Microsoft Access, SQL, Microsoft Report Services, and Sharepoint. Experience developing and executing test plans. Ability to work toward a resolution with internal clients even under stressful conditions. Excellent judgment and interpersonal skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to conduct training classes. Possess the skills needed to work in a matrix organization environment including the ability to work independently to meet the local needs of Professional Tennis while meeting the standards of the IT Department. Conducting oneself with the mind set of an independent consultant: approaching tasks with a "can do" attitude, making each client feel that their needs are your sole focus, and creating opportunities for additional assignments through relationships built on a track record of delivering results.
