Entry Level COBOL Programmer
Recent BA/BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, IT or other closely related majors highly preferred.

Prior knowledge of relational databases and SQL is preferred
Bachelors degree in Computer Science/Information Systems and some experience in a client relations and/or hardware/software support position is preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Technical aptitude, including the ability to understand detailed technical information
PC literacy, including working knowledge of desktop applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, e-mail, etc.)
Working knowledge of information systems concepts
Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to follow directions
Good organizational and problem solving abilities
Good verbal and written communications skills

The entry level developer will be responsible for coding new programs as well as adding new functionality to existing programs. They must become proficient at comprehensive unit and system testing, and have excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.
The candidate must have good interpersonal/communication skills and be able to adapt to a fast-paced work environment. The candidate must work as a team member on small to intermediate size projects of low to average complexity under the direction and supervision of senior team members and management.
Ensures systems implementations occur in accordance with established Change Control procedures. Proactively communicates status reports and issues to manager with a game plan of resolution. Responsibilities include following established VDM / AGILE methods from analysis of requirements through implementation of solution and monitoring.
Programming/Analysis - Performs small to medium size programming tasks using COBOL/DB2/JCL/SyncSort and TSO/ISPF utilities with low to average level of complexity. Performs analysis, writes program specifications and develops designs for small/medium size projects. Attends training sessions to improve system knowledge and proficiency using technical tools. Supervision on all tasks may be necessary. Demonstrates improving programming and design skills throughout first year. Has some knowledge of methodology, tools, standards and procedures to operate effectively in a mainframe programming environment. Demonstrates ability to analyze problems and build logical constructs to solve problems in an efficient manner.
