Director of Marketing & Communications
The Sub-Area Marketing & Communications Leader's primary role is to develop the Sub-Area marketing and communications strategy, plan and budget as well as to direct and coordinate the implementation of the marketing plan and related initiatives/integrated campaigns, including measuring and tracking results. The Sub-Area marketing plan is aligned with the Sub-Area's business and revenue objectives and supports the Sub-Area's go-to-market strategy in achieving market leadership across our 4 dimensions of brand, reputation, relationships and market share. This position maintains a leadership role within the Sub-Area. Working closely with internal stakeholders and Sub-Area leadership, including the Sub-Area Managing Partner and Sub-Area Accounts & Business Development Leader, this position is responsible for the deployment of strategic marketing and communications programs to key stakeholders (EY people, Alumni, priority accounts/clients/targets, etc…) across the Sub-Area. This position leverages thought leadership and other content from relevant Global Industry Centers, global growth platforms, Americas Markets and Americas Communications & Marketing teams. In conjunction with Americas Markets and Americas Communications & Marketing, this position is part of an Americas network which routinely shares best practices to provide consistent deployment of key internal and external initiatives and messages across the Americas. Responsibilities
Builds relationships with the Sub-Area, Americas Markets and Americas Communications & Marketing Leadership teams to provide the marketing and communications support required for meeting the Sub-Area's go to market initiatives; participates and provides insights in key leadership meetings and contributes beyond specific areas of responsibility to achieve Sub-Area business and revenue objectives
Manages, develops and sets the direction for the overall Sub-Area marketing & communications group, aligned to the Sub-Area's strategic business goals and revenue objectives
Develops a comprehensive marketing & communications strategy, including annual marketing plan, calendar, timeline and budget, to meet the Sub-Area's strategic business objectives
Monitors Sub-Area marketing plan/budget regularly and makes changes as market conditions warrant
Advises and influences leadership on the optimal mix of marketing channels for integrated campaigns (e.g., thought leadership, go-to-market collateral, events, sponsorships, media relations, etc….)
Responsible for the execution of all Sub-Area events (internal and external) including those focused on supporting EY people/PPEDDs, alumni relationships, Entrepreneur of the Year (EOY), strategic client communities and industry sponsorships; drives the content and initiatives behind strategic touch points and relationship building efforts; responsible for knowledge sharing (including best practices) from a marketing & communications perspective; executes Sub-Area public relations initiatives such as local office awareness and community involvement
Manages and directs the Sub-Area marketing & communications team to develop and implement programs and activities that provide defined marketing, communications and image-building value and that are aligned with the firm's strategy. Maintains a strong focus on establishing programs that will generate direct contact with the Sub-Area's priority accounts. Maintains hands-on involvement with large scale and strategic events and programs such as Entrepreneur of the Year (EOY) and other technical programs executed across the Sub-Area
Develops and manages a robust ROI tracking process for all marketing initiatives
Responsible for the selection and management of staff including their growth and development
Works with Sub-Area leadership to establish and administer the annual marketing budget and manages expenditures in order to operate within approved budget guidelines To qualify, candidates must have:
- Bachelor's degree with major in Marketing or Communications preferred; advanced degree highly desirable
- 12-15 years experience in managing strategic marketing & communications either within Ernst & Young or another professional services firm
Knowledge and Skills Requirements
- Demonstrated success in building internal and external relationships at a senior level with a proven track record of success in marketing, communications and events management
- Excellent project management, team building and interpersonal communication skills
- Outstanding written and oral communications skills, as well as listening and interpretation skills
- Deep knowledge in business-to-business marketing & communications
