Description PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Customer Service Representative (CSR) receives (by telephone) requests for orders, and lead times from customers. Makes quotations on standard items, writes orders, and relays pertinent order information to customers. Coordinates with other departments in handling purchase orders and providing service to customers. Customer satisfaction is a prime responsibility.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
High School Degree or G.E.D. is required. A minimum of 1 year of customer service experience in a related industry.
PREFERRED OFFICE/MACHINE EQUIPMENT EXPERIENCE:
Strong personal computer skills. Experience with Microsoft Office, printer, fax machine, electronic mail and 10-key calculator.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
. Achieves and maintains rapport with customers and works to give them the best possible service.
. Receives telephone requests for purchase orders, order changes, adjustments, and cancellations directly from customers or sales representatives.
. Uses a computer to retrieve customer information, stock status information, the status of purchase orders, and to make changes on customer purchase orders. Ensures that correct codes are used for retrieving and inputting information.
. Handles the needs of sales representatives and customers
. Checks with A/R department concerning credit status of customer when rush orders are received.
. Prepares paperwork (original purchase order, copies of invoice, and return goods memo) to be given to accounting department for credit or debit to be issued.
. Must maintain a good attendance record.

Individual must have a good attitude. High energy level, comfortable performing projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities. Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to communicate with diverse personalities; tactful, mature and flexible. Good reasoning abilities and sound judgment. Failure to handle customers tactfully could result in order cancellation and/or subsequent loss of customer and profit. Exercise of somewhat more than ordinary care can prevent loss. Resourceful, well organized, dependable, efficient and detailed oriented.
INTERACTIONS:
Individual will interact with employees, management, sales representatives and customers.
