AutoReqId 15822BR Job or Campus Folder Environmental Scientist - Site Support Job Description ExxonMobil Biomedical Sciences, Inc. (EMBSI), located in Clinton, New Jersey, is accepting applications for an Environmental Scientist position in the Toxicology & Environmental Sciences Division. EMBSI is a wholly owned subsidiary of the ExxonMobil Corporation, and has 110 human health, environmental, and product stewardship experts positioned globally to provide integrated support to ExxonMobil businesses.
The candidate should have broad training in site characterization, environmental risk assessment, risk-based corrective action, natural resource assessment, ecosystem service valuation, and ecological restoration strategies to advance ExxonMobil's capacity to achieve environmental policy objectives in the management of operating properties and in the redevelopment of surplus land. Training in wetlands and geographic information technologies is a plus. Strong quantitative skills and familiarity with computational tools (e.g. statistical/ simulation) are essential. A Ph.D. in environmental science or related field is preferred. Previous experience with legislative and regulatory process and/or work specifically relevant to the petroleum or chemical industry is especially helpful.
Candidates must be able to work independently and interact well with individuals from other disciplines to achieve worldwide business objectives and to ensure compliance with corporate policies and international environmental regulations. Typical activities include environmental risk assessment of sites and operations, review and critical analysis of literature data, design and monitoring of internal and external research programs, interaction with governmental/regulatory agencies, and participation in professional organizations and trade associations. This position will involve providing technical support to ExxonMobil affiliates worldwide and require travel. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.
EMBSI is located in scenic western New Jersey, about an hour west of New York City and 45 minutes northwest of Princeton. Within EMBSI, consultants and laboratory staff cooperate to develop new methods and data to address environmental challenges. Research is actively communicated through publication and presentation and collaborations with the external scientific community are encouraged.
