Must be proficient in the use of Mac-based desktop publishing and design tools such as In-Design, AdobeAcrobat, Photoshop and Illustrator; must be knowledgeable in the proper maintenance and upkeep of desktop computer software and systems in both PCand MAC environments; should be capable of learning how to use new computer software and hardware components.
Responsibilities:The successful candidate must have an understanding of the communications needs of the client, in order to identify and properly consider cost, time and other production parameters, and skillfully execute the most appropriate graphic design solution. Be able to apply general rules and high standards for design, page layout and typography while adhering strictly to the policies that guide the use of the Company?s identity. Prepare electronic files that produce the output required to meet the needs of specific production processes -- from offset printing to Web publishing. Maintain an efficient work environment by properly tracking and managing such things as computer software versions, font libraries, file systems, hardware settings, materials inventories, the Mac network and printer operation. Coordinate scheduling and the execution of production tasks with others in the Reproduction department and with outside vendors to ensure quality, economic and timely delivery of projects. Learn and apply new graphics technologies and design techniques. Must be creative, self-motivated, organized and detail oriented with proven skills in graphic design and production. Must be able to effectively communicate and develop cooperative working relationships with other department personnel, clients, printers and others to ensure most effective and economical production of communications pieces. Candidate will provide other duties as assigned.
Must have a valid driver's license. Must be able to travel within tri-state area, as required.
Must be able and willing to work various shifts (including overtime and weekends on short notice. Must be able to lift up to thirty (30) pounds, stand for a fullwork shift (when required), and work within noisy and paper dust environment.
