Asst. Director of CSTEP
Mercy College-New York invites applications for an Assistant Director of CSTEP for the College Opportunity Program.
Located at our Dobbs Ferry campus, and reporting to the Director of CSTEP, Asst. Director will facilitate and help implement all program goals and objectives. S/He is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the CSTEP program.
Responsibilities
Recruit, interview, and determine eligibility of students; monitor student progress; supervise staff; coordinate a summer program for CSTEP students; implement evaluation projects to determine program effectiveness; interface with faculty; and disseminate information on the success of the program; coordinate the internship opportunities for the CSTEP students by working closely with the Career Development Office; collect program data, maintain records on student performance and progress; oversee program tutors in a tutoring component, and assess students' academic and personal needs; help organize and conduct academic and professional field trip activities and conferences; establish processes to ensure external and internal compliance regulations are being met; maintain spreadsheet of budget expenditures and reconcile monthly budget with the controller's office; Submit reports concerning program operation, keep a record of contacts with the students, and identify weaknesses and propose improvements in the program; provide academic counseling including assisting students in the selection of classes; consulting with students and faculty regarding student performance; integrating academic advisement with the students' vocational development; helping students develop skills to monitor their own academic progress and to plan their own course of study; conferring with students concerning long-range academic and career goals; meet regularly with students who have difficulty in making the transition to college and later to the working world; consult with other counselors in the department to make referrals; organizing and implementing group counseling sessions based on common student interests and needs; and helping students understand their financial situation; collect data necessary for mid-year and annual reports to the State Education Department.
